The main purposes of the prefitting examination are to: 1. Determine ocular health and suitability of contact lens wear 2. Obtain baseline data for future reference 3. Obtain data to determine best contact lens type, parameters of the first diagnostic lens, and to be able to order correct lens power 4. Consult with the patient as to the suitability, risks, limitations and expectations of contact lens wear (This module assumes the student understands general examination procedures and, thus, most procedures are not described in detail. Other modules or texts on refraction procedures should be consulted if any of the procedures are not understood).
